FAQ

Is Pokebonk multiplayer?
Yes. Pokebonk has online co-op for 2 to 4 trainers. You can play Classic mode together or Team Survival. Teams compete on a separate co-op leaderboard.
Do I need an account to play Pokebonk co-op?
Yes. The current client says co-op is for trainers with an account. A guest can save their progress to an account without losing it, then create or join rooms.
How do I play Pokebonk with friends?
Open Co-op, create a room, then invite online friends or share the room code or link. The host picks a map and difficulty the whole team has unlocked and starts when everyone is connected.
How does Find a match work in Pokebonk?
On the co-op screen pick a mode, a team size (duo, trio or squad), a map and a difficulty, or Any. The game teams you up with trainers looking for the same thing, from your region first.
Does the game pause in co-op?
No. Menus do not stop the run. While you choose an upgrade, a protective bubble covers you from a reserve that the client describes as 45 seconds, plus 15 per level up to 90, refilling slowly. When it runs out, you can be hit.
How do revives work in Pokebonk co-op?
When a teammate is downed, go next to them and hold E (the on-screen key) before their timer runs out. In Team Survival, fallen players also come back when the team beats the next boss.

Yes, Pokebonk is multiplayer. The official game has online co-op for 2 to 4 trainers. You can play Classic together or Team Survival, and every player needs an account.

This guide is based on the interface text and release notes inside the official v0.8.79 client (checked 2026-10-29). We read the client; we did not play a full co-op run for this page. Some rules changed several times during October, and we note where.

How to play Pokebonk with friends

  1. Open Co-op from the main menu. If it says co-op is paused, under maintenance or in closed beta, follow that message. The client still contains all three states.
  2. Create a room. You become the host.
  3. Invite friends. Online friends are listed first, and “Invite everyone online” sends to all of them. An invite also arrives in the mailbox. You can also share the room code or copy the room link: whoever opens the link joins directly.
  4. Pick your Pokémon on the usual League screen, with your Team and Wardrobe look. You can bring your Bag; items are only used up if the run starts.
  5. The host picks the map and difficulty. The room only offers maps and difficulties the whole team has unlocked, and it says who is missing the chosen one.
  6. Start. “Start!” waits until everyone is connected with everyone. If someone has another version of the game, the room warns them and they get the reload prompt.

The host can also turn on Find teammates, so other trainers looking for a match fill the free seats.

How Find a match works

On the co-op screen, choose a mode, a team size (duo, trio or squad), a map and a difficulty, or Any. The game teams you up with trainers looking for the same thing, from your region first.

Public rooms work a little differently from friends’ rooms:

  • A leader (shown with a crown) starts the run when everyone is ready.
  • A public room plays what was chosen when searching.
  • Nobody can be kicked from a public room.
  • If the leader does not touch anything for 90 seconds, they leave the room and the next player leads.
  • After the match you go back to the room to chat and play again.

What changes during a co-op run

  • No pause. Menus do not stop the run. To stop it, ask your team for a pause.
  • Upgrade bubble. While you choose an upgrade, a bubble protects you, but you do not attack or pick anything up. The latest release note calls it a reserve: 45 seconds to start, +15 per level up to 90, refilling slowly. Rerolling, banishing or skipping no longer burn it all at once. An earlier note described 5 seconds per level up to 10, so guides written before the change may still show that.
  • Revives. When a teammate is downed, stand next to them and hold E. The on-screen timer shows how long you have. If you go down just before the team takes the portal, you revive with them.
  • Portal. To move to the next zone, everyone has to be in the portal.
  • Enemies chase the nearest trainer and only switch when another player is much closer.
  • Shared map. What a teammate discovers, such as Poké Balls, altars or Ditto, also shows on your map.
  • Individual rewards. Experience, Poké Balls, the shop and catches are individual. Teammates’ KOs near you also give you some experience.
  • Altars. The Gengar, cursed and Rhydon altars went from a team decision back to free use: each player uses them whenever they want.
  • Bosses. A short-lived version added team boss mechanics (seal barriers, shared Wrath). A later note removed them: bosses and elites fight like in solo.
  • When you are out, the camera follows a teammate; Space switches who you watch.

Signal wheel

Hold G (L3 on a gamepad) and pick a signal: Here!, To the boss!, Look at this!, To the portal!, Thanks!, Wait!, Careful! or Help! Each signal places itself where it belongs. A quick tap of G marks the spot you are looking at. There is also a room chat with quick phrases; messages are deleted when the run starts.

Team Survival

Pick Survival in the co-op room. It is an ever tougher, faster horde with a shared boss every 4 minutes, plus Cataclysm and Apocalypse. If you fall and nobody revives you, you come back when the team beats the next boss. Teams are ranked by time survived, with team KOs as the tiebreaker.

What counts in co-op

  • Co-op runs go to the co-op leaderboard, per map and difficulty. Only teams where everyone has an account are listed. The room shows where your team stands.
  • Looks challenges count in co-op: “win” means the team’s Classic victory, and each challenge looks at what you did. Challenges that require taking at most N hits stay solo-only.
  • Not available in co-op: the Daily Mutation, saving a run, and Mewtwo’s zone 2-3 challenge (Classic solo only).

If co-op will not connect

Co-op runs directly between browsers (WebRTC). If your network does not allow a direct connection, the game routes through its own server. If your browser has WebRTC turned off, the game says so: disable privacy extensions that block it on pokebonk.com, or try Chrome, Edge or an unmodified Firefox. For other problems, see troubleshooting .

Co-op in Season 3

Announced in official news id 20 and id 21 (November 3–4, 2026); not playtested:

  • Season rewards: starting this season, the top 10 of every team leaderboard receives a badge, Stardust and exclusive cosmetics: the frames Team Bond, Elite Squad, Team Champions and Last Campfire, the avatars Squad Leader and Team Champion, the background Champions’ Campfire and the titles Legendary Teammate, Inseparable Duo, Unstoppable Trio and Legendary Squad.
  • Run chat: press Enter to message your team without leaving the run. On mobile, it has its own button.
  • Map events happen at the same time for everyone, and the new bosses’ mechanics count for the whole team.
  • Team Rifts: Incense opens the Rift on the shared map and, if its Alpha falls, each player picks a Relic.
  • For the clan: ranked co-op runs give clan points, and you can invite online clanmates without being friends.
  • Maps in a dropdown with landscapes: in the room, in Find a match and on the leaderboard.

See the Season 3 guide for the rest of the season.

The client text does not carry dates for each release note. Where two notes disagree (upgrade bubble, altars, boss mechanics), we use the one that says it replaced the other.
