PokéBonk Pokédex: How Seen, Captured and League Work
How the PokéBonk Pokédex works: 151 species and what Seen, Captured, Registered, League, Research Notebook and Shiny Collection each mean, from the in-game screens.
FAQ
How many Pokémon are in PokéBonk?
What is the difference between Seen and Captured in PokéBonk?
Why is a Pokémon I defeated still not in my Pokédex?
The PokéBonk Pokédex is the game’s collection tracker. This page explains what its screens and counters actually mean, read from a fresh Guest profile in the in-game Pokédex (Beta v0.7.2). It is the hub for our per-species entries — see Diglett for the first fully documented one.
Quick answer
PokéBonk tracks 151 species. The Pokédex counts your progress in several independent ways — Seen, Captured, League, Research Notebook and Shiny Collection. Seeing or defeating a Pokémon does not automatically register or capture it; the counters move on their own rules.
How many Pokémon are there?
The Pokédex overview shows 151 total species. A fresh Guest profile starts almost empty: in one observed v0.7.2 Guest profile the overview read 4/151 Seen with 1 family Captured. Unfound species show as ??? with “You haven’t found it yet” and no data.
Observed, Beta v0.7.2 (Pokédex overview, fresh Guest).
What do the counters mean?
| Counter | What it tracks | Observed (fresh Guest) |
|---|---|---|
| Seen | Species you have encountered | 4 / 151 |
| Families Captured | Evolution families you own | 1 |
| League | Your playable roster for runs | 1 / 79 |
| Research Notebook | Research tasks logged | 0 / 78 |
| Shiny Collection | Shiny variants collected | 0 / 2 |
Observed, Beta v0.7.2. These are the starting values of one fresh Guest profile, not a target or a completion guide.
The important point: these counters are separate. “Seen” is not “Captured”, and neither is the same as being a League member you can actually play. The Pokédex filters — All / Seen / Captured / Shiny — let you view each set on its own.
Seeing a Pokémon is not capturing it
A clear, tested example: in a v0.7.2 Guest run, Geodude appeared in the run result as newly seen, but a later Pokédex search still showed it UNREGISTERED. So:
- Appearing / being KO’d ≠ Registered. The result screen’s “new” count is not the same as a Pokédex registration.
- Registered ≠ Captured. Owning the family is its own step.
- Captured ≠ playable. Your League roster (1/79 to start) is the set you can bring into a run; most species are documented but not yet in your League.
Our reading, untested: the exact conditions that move a species from Seen to Captured to a League slot were not shown in the UI, so we do not state them as fact yet. Treat an entry’s “League member” line as “documented species”, not “confirmed playable”.
Types in the Pokédex
The Pokédex recognises these 18 types for filtering and matchups: Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel, Fairy. How type damage, weather and reactions work is covered in the mechanics guide .
Observed, Beta v0.7.2 (Pokédex type filter + glossary).
How we document each species
Every entry on this site is read directly from a Pokémon’s own Pokédex detail screen (number, type, flavour text, height/weight, base stats, evolution line and its move list), with the game version and the date we checked beside the numbers. Unverified species are left out rather than filled in from mainline Pokémon data — PokéBonk’s values are its own.
Sources & verification
Counters and species totals were read from the in-game Pokédex overview and a fresh Guest run result, Beta v0.7.2, on 2026-10-18 (US Pacific Time). Facts are labelled Observed; unshown rules are marked Our reading, untested. The game updates often, so a later patch may change these numbers. Spotted a mistake? support@pokebonkwiki.com
