FAQ

What is the Daily Mutation in Pokebonk?
A Classic run with a different twist every day, the same for every player: same map, same world and same mutation. You can retry as many times as you want; your best run of the day counts on that mutation's leaderboard.
What are the four Daily Mutations?
Metronome (Nightmare): every 30 seconds one of your moves becomes a random League move at the same level. Dynamax Wilds (Hard): wild Pokémon are twice as big with twice the HP, hit 50% harder and move 15% slower. Candy Fever (Hard): double experience and Pokédollars, but Pokémon get stronger 60% faster. Glass (Normal): a quarter of your HP, double damage.
How much Stardust does the Daily Mutation give?
Once a day: 60 for reaching zone 2, 60 for zone 3, 60 for the sanctuary and 120 for winning, 300 in total.
Can I play the Daily Mutation in co-op or with my Bag?
No. The Daily Mutation is solo only and you cannot bring your Bag. You can use any League Pokémon.
Do I need an account for the Daily Mutation?
You need an account to enter the Daily Mutation leaderboard.

The Daily Mutation is a Classic run with a different twist every day, the same for everyone. Every player gets the same map, the same world and the same mutation. Find it in the main menu’s first row, next to Survival. You can play it as many times as you want: your best run of the day counts (how far you got, then your KOs).

This guide uses the official v0.8.79 client’s English release notes and interface text, read on 2026-10-29. We have not finished every mutation in a test run.

The four Daily Mutations

Mutation Difficulty Rule
Metronome Nightmare Every 30 seconds one of your moves turns into a random move from the whole League, at the same level. Your first move and fusions never change.
Dynamax Wilds Hard Wild Pokémon are twice as big with twice the HP; they hit 50% harder but move 15% slower. Bosses do not change.
Candy Fever Hard Double experience and Pokédollars, but Pokémon get stronger 60% faster.
Glass Normal Only a quarter of your HP, but all your damage is doubled.

The Daily Mutation has its own difficulty: you do not pick one. The release note calls the last mutation Glass, while other interface text uses Crystal (for example the Crystal Frame), so you may see both names.

During a run you can see the active mutation: a banner at the start of each zone, its medallion next to the top plate, and in Metronome a countdown with each move swap shown large.

Rules

  • Any League Pokémon can be used.
  • No Bag and no co-op.
  • Unlimited retries; the best run of the day counts.
  • Save and quit works: from the pause menu, save the run and continue it later exactly as it was.
  • An account is required to enter the Daily Mutation leaderboard.
  • A Daily Mutation win does not count as a “win” for Looks challenges, which need a Classic victory.

Leaderboard

Each mutation has a daily leaderboard, and you can also view yesterday’s and the day before’s. Ranking is by how far you get, then KOs.

Stardust and rewards

Stardust is paid once a day:

Milestone Stardust
Reach zone 2 60
Reach zone 3 60
Reach the sanctuary 60
Win 120
Total per day 300

Each mutation also has rewards you keep:

Goal Reward
Reach zone 3 That mutation’s title
Reach the sanctuary Its avatar frame (Metronome, Dynamax, Crystal frames)
Win it Its profile background, shown behind your name on your trainer card
Win all four The title King of Mutations (shown in the interface as “Mutation King”)

Frames you have already earned appear in the Frames tab of the avatar picker.

Johto Daily Mutations (from November 5)

Announcement id 21 (November 4, 2026) adds two Johto Daily Mutations from November 5, on Nightmare and on the Johto maps. Not playtested:

  • Day and Night: at night, Pokémon run faster and hit much harder.
  • Pokérus: you gain more experience, but each defeat infects nearby wild Pokémon and makes them stronger.
  • Their rewards (title, frame and background) can only be earned with a Johto Pokémon.

Tips

  • Glass: with a quarter of your HP, play the first zone carefully and favour range and defensive picks until your build is online.
  • Candy Fever: the extra experience comes early, but enemies scale 60% faster, so do not slow down to farm.
  • Dynamax Wilds: wild Pokémon are slower but tougher; keep moving and use area damage. Bosses are unchanged.
  • Metronome: your first move and fusions stay fixed, so build around your first move and do not rely on a specific later move.

These are suggestions based on the rules above, not tested strategies.

What we have not confirmed

  • The client text does not state the reset time or the order the four mutations rotate in. Check the countdown on the Daily Mutation card in the menu.
  • Season 3 (v0.9, November 4) rebalances Pokémon and reworks fusions, which can change how each mutation plays. See the Season 3 guide .
