Follow the Classic Viridian Forest route through its guardians and into the Viridian Forest Shrine. The current region data assigns Mew to that shrine; the run code selects the shrine encounter at stage four. Use the map and the visible portal/shrine prompts rather than looking for a fixed world coordinate. The Classic vs Survival guide separates this route from Survival milestones.
Before activating the shrine, check these four things:
- A damage plan: upgrade a move you can keep landing while moving. Read each card’s affected moves rather than buying an unrelated bonus.
- Movement and health: leave yourself room to move around warnings. A larger damage number will not solve a missed cover check.
- An available Ultimate: consider manual use so it is ready when you have a clear damage window. This timing is a suggestion, not a tested rotation.
- Two possible cover positions: identify solid obstacles and a way between them before the arena becomes crowded.
There is no verified minimum character level for this guide. The fight uses a damage-based health budget, including a 60-second legendary tuning input; 60 seconds is not a time limit or a promise of a one-minute kill. Do not copy a video’s HP number as a universal requirement. Review controls and move learning if your setup is unfamiliar.
What changes in Mew’s three phases?
Phase 1 · 100–66% HP
Playful
Bubbles, marked Psychic attacks, homing spheres, teleports and bubble mines.
Priority: preserve an escape lane.
Phase 2 · 66–33% HP
Metronome
Adds mixed-type attacks, Ancient Power, transformation and clone pressure.
Priority: read the next warning.
Phase 3 · Below 33% HP
Ancestral Gene
The expanded attack pool continues; the Ultimate adds a cover check.
Priority: reach intact cover.
Client-verified: transitions are at 66% and 33% of maximum HP. A transition grants temporary immunity, and the shared phase barrier limits how quickly health can fall. A pause in visible damage during a transition does not by itself mean your attacks stopped working. Attack selection varies, so the phases are not a memorized sequence of identical casts.
Phase one: how should I read bubbles and floor markers?
| Cue in the client | What the attack does | Suggested response · not playtested |
|---|---|---|
| Bubble volleys | Sends several rings; the last volley includes homing shots. | Keep a route through the gaps; use solid cover when a clear line is available. |
| Psychic floor warnings | Marks several circles, including one projected ahead of your movement. | Change your route after the marker appears instead of running straight into it. |
| Aura Sphere | Launches a short series of homing projectiles. | Move laterally and avoid backing into mines. |
| Teleport | Repositions, then releases another ring; later phases can add Psychic. | Reacquire Mew and inspect the floor before closing distance. |
| Bubble Trap | Arms mines around the player; proximity or expiry starts their explosion fuse. | Leave space between your route and the bubbles; do not stop beside one. |
Phase two: what does Metronome actually add?
Metronome can select Fire Blast, Blizzard, Thunder, Earthquake or Solar Beam. These have different shapes: floor lines/circles, projectiles or an expanding ground wave. Read the displayed warning rather than assuming every attack is Psychic. The ground-wave handler checks player height; jumping is a plausible response, with timing still untested here.
Double Team creates temporary clones that fire projectiles. Transform makes Mew resemble the player’s species and fire attacks using the player’s primary type. Keep track of the boss instead of treating every visible copy as a separate health bar. The forest also adds roots and spore hazards, so a formerly clear route can become unsafe.
How do I survive Ancestral Gene?
The third phase enables Mew’s Ultimate. In this snapshot, its blast has a 4.4-second warning once the cataclysm starts. Treat the on-screen warning as your cue to move immediately, not as a countdown to spend on extra damage.
- Locate Mew’s current position. It repositions for the Ultimate, so an old hiding spot may face the wrong direction.
- Put an intact solid obstacle on the line between you and Mew. The client checks whether that line is blocked at your character’s height.
- Check the path and obstacle. Pillars can break. Raised roots are registered as cover after they rise; the bramble boundary is not.
- Return to movement after the blast. Cover does not protect you from every floor hazard, mine or projectile arriving from a different direction.

Which build should I try against Mew?
Untested candidate: a Bug attack with Silver Powder, or a Ghost/Dark attack with its matching type item. The current runtime gives Bug, Ghost and Dark a base ×1.35 type factor against pure Psychic Mew. Silver Powder is tagged for Bug moves, so check that your actual attack matches it. This is not a recommendation to stack it on an unrelated Grass move.
Neutral alternative: keep an already upgraded, reliable move rather than assuming a newly offered weak move wins solely through type advantage. Upgrade its matching damage/shape bonuses and maintain movement. Neither route has a measured clear time here; no item count or level is presented as a guaranteed win.
The Pokédex entry describes species reference data. The build planner compares reference learnsets and coverage; it does not simulate this boss fight, survivor card offers or a tested DPS ranking. For the other original shrine boss, use the Moltres guide .
What is the difference between beating and unlocking Mew?
The v0.8.60 League challenge requires the other 78 League members, calculated from the current 79-member roster. That is a recruitment requirement, not a prerequisite coded into spawning the forest shrine boss. A shrine victory alone does not prove that Mew joined your League. Follow the challenge and capture instructions shown in your own game; we did not complete that recruitment flow in this review.
